i dont really care about what people think about me, and to answer your question, i think its when you get into highschool, then your looks start to count on how people look at you.

i think that its superficial only looking at what people wear even if it is just a phase through high school...you just need to get to tknow there personality...like does it actuially matter what people look like anyways

hello, i am luna
you may also know me as BBGrrL~~

or maybe, just Alyssa.
Anywhales, WHEN did it become so important? I think the better question is WHY has it become so important. I'm pretty sure that that sense of discrimination has been around forever. Judging someone is probably one of the easist things someone can do, especially as a way of trying to convince themselves that they are, no matter how ignorant they may be, superior.

GOOD JOB - keep it going you guys!! This is good, I like what I am reading. And ya, Alyssa - keep on that chain of thought, and we will see where it goes. WHY is a good question to ask.

Nobody should care what others think about them especially in our youth group environment. We should be free to offer our concerns and discuss things without being afraid of people criticizing us. This is why i am so excited about the couch. We can have a whole night of discussion!

luna is right, i dont think people should be judged on how they look or listen, sometimes you cant change it, for example, if your poor, you cant change the way you look. we should always give people a chance to express themselves. talk to em, check out who they really are... there should be a loooooong discussion at the church when it is the couch night, lol.

I agree with pretty much all of you guys. But I was thinking there is another side to. Don't you think some people want to look a certain way? Say, someone who is dressed like a Hells Angel or Goth or whatever. They ARE sending a certain message, right? I find it's hard not to stereo type them. To me they are sending a message to the world. Am I wrong?

well dennis, thats another one for the theologians, lol.
im really not sure, dennis has a good point. people wouldnt dress up like that if they werent giving us a message. we should be haveing a good discussion at the the church l8er. lol.

thats true but what if that person dressing like that is just trying to escape people teasing them about what if they would normally wear? what if its just another mask?

That's a really good point Katrina, so it may be just about trying to belong to something?

we're all not really sure about this topic, its pretty tricky, theres lots of explinations and meanings to this, i guess the best way to find out is to ask i guess, find out why people dress like that, usually they want to fit in with the school or be "COOL". i better stop typing, im starting to confuse myself. but being "cool" in highschool doesnt rezally mean much unless you form relationships then being "cool" is just a superficial thing, and if your relationships are based on nothing of intellegence then they dont mean much do they? (i hope you can follow that)

Hey Guys i think we should start a new topic!
What are your thoughts on worship and what types of worship help you connect with God the most?

Hey Amber! Good job on sparking a new topic of discussion. I did not notice it until after I had posted the video. So ya, go for it you guys. Add your thoughts to this topic as well. YOU ARE ALL DOING GREAT WITH THIS COUCH IDEA. Looking forward to our discussion.

Hey thanks, Well since nobody else has joined in this topic i will say my opinion. First of all i believe that i connect with God well through music. It is beautiful and a lot of times words from the song can just hit me. Also i think that drawing is another form of worship i enjoy. When i read a bible verse or think about an attribute of God sometimes i like to sketch it out so that it sticks in my head.

For me I'm like you amber I connect mostly with God through music, secondly with nature especially when I am in the mountains.
Jaz, that's a great video clip. I'd like to throw out a question. Which do you guys think is worse-vebal abuse, or physical abuse?

Back to what Dennis said about sending out a certain message by the way you dress,.. i think you need to still try and look past even that because its quite possiable that they dress that way because they are hurting and need that extra attention.. even if that attention may be negative... its like nancy said before school started, mabey that girl in the short mini-skirt needs more love from her father, mabey the boy on drugs jsut wants acceptance... there could be reasoning for the way they dress or what they do, and you jsut need to break through that to meet the amazing person inside :)

i totally agree with jules about saying they want tmore attention but that could also be false because i no i dress goth and im not a bad person and i dont really want attention but in most cases thaty couold be true i have been verbally abused for years now and i think that is why i am the way i am today...but im really a nice person and most people dont see that because they are intimidated by me especially girls cyuz now when i walk down the hallways the girls that used to bug me they no longer say mean things to my face witch is a good thing but still..ok now i think im just rambling on so thats all i have to say for now
