Well to be honest, I think that life is never REALLY like that. I do believe that rude words people say about others can hurt, but i have never seen or been involved with a group of people who stand at the side of the hall making fun of someone openly like that.
I work with a guy that is so vicious with his words they have nick named him "pit bull." It's true! I have a question. Which do you think is worse-physical abuse or verbal abuse?
good evening! i think that in my school, a lot of the bullying is very... internal. people don't notice most of the bullying because it's so subtle. like... there's this girl i know of and she's not very bright exactly... and she says weird things and people tease her a bit sometimes... and i guess if the teasing gets excessive, it becomes more bullying than just teasing...
hey guys! Well dennis.. i think that almost verbal abuse is the worst. Becuase when girls go anorexic and that stuff its all becuase of what someone says about them. it can change what someone thinks about themselves and totaly distroy them.
i think it would be easier to work through physical abuse.. cuz verbal abuse even when you think its dealt with its always in the back of your head it doesnt matter if youve forgotten about it .. its still subconsciously there
I defffffffffffff agree. As in, I think verbal abuse is worst. I mean, you can heal from physical abuse, but if you've been verbally abused over and over again, then eventually you just become used to it and think that it's true, and it pretty much wears you down inside.
I couldn't agree with you guys and gals more. As you know I am really OLD but the verbal abuse I experienced was way worse than the beatings. Those words (especially from my mother)burned into me and even helped define who I am-they still bother me and in some ways still cripple me, even today.
I definetly agree that verbal abuse is worse than physical abuse. Physical abuse may hurt and sting for a while, but in the end its the verbal abuse and not feeling accepted or getting that sense of belonging that hurts a lot more. My mom was talking to some relatives this summer and was saying how when guys are angry with eachother they beat eachother up, give eachother a slap on the back and then go hang out and paly soccer or something they jsut forget about it, where girls use verbal abuse and thats what gets to them... and they remember it and hold a grudge for a lot longer. i suppose that could be a bit steryotypical, but in a sense its true.. its words that can really hurt...
Very true, verbal things hurt for a long time. Also physical abuse can hurt a long time too though if you think about it. There are many people who are afraid of certain people because they have hurt them in the past. i think sometimes they accompany each other like if there is some major things going on at home. okay i think im just rambling now.. ya
Amber - are you referring to "people that have hurt them in the past" as in physically? If so, ya that makes sense - you can be afraid of getting beaten up over and over again.
It seems like most of you would be saying that verbal abuse has more long lasting effects than physical abuse (not that the effects of that don't last a long time).
My question to you in regards to the video and verbal abuse is: Do you think that what is happening to the girl in the video could be considered "teasing" if so what is the difference between bullies and teasing?
I think the difference between teasing and bullying is subtle but different. I like to think that teasing is something done between friends. Hopefully it's good natured, although that can sometimes become quite mean too. Bullying to me is a person or "friends" getting together to target someone to deliberately inflict either physical or psychological pain.
I think this video is very true. People throw words out so quickly and easily never realizing how much they are hurting others. Some people might consider this teasing but it all depends on how the person interprets what it said. I agree with the people who say that it is generally girls that use their words like they are throwing little razorblades.
I think stuff like this happens daily and we never realize how our words hurt anyone. the sad thing is taht we are all doing it...without even noticing it. but yea i gotta say that in my life the things that brings me down the most is words...just one mean would could make me upset for days...says...NANCY woot wooot...
Some girls can be so vicious with their words. It might not even be outloud it could be graffiti on the bathroom stall either way it changes you, it sticks with you for a long time.

i agree with the beginning of the above statement but do not understand what is being said at the end... can someone explain???

i think that teasing is a form of bullying. teasing is just more the mental aspect of it though

hmm, good thoughts. More thoughts???
